Web of Lies

You may guess that planning an elopement such as this one involved a web of lies to family, friends and co-workers. You would be correct. Perhaps the lie I feel the most guilt about revolves around our marriage license.

We didn't plan our wedding too far in advance. However, when my parents came to visit us in May, we already knew we were planning to secretly marry. In fact, we stealthily picked up our marriage license JUST before picking them up from the airport.

Check out my calendar guilt:

Here we are at the courthouse early that morning:

And here's the fruit of our sneaky labors:

The hardest thing was not letting the secret slip for the rest of the fabulous weekend!

  1. I also totally lied to Dana when I asked her if I could borrow her pink bracelets. Oops!

  2. The best part about this is that marriage licenses and assumed names coexist. There's gotta be a great story there somewhere!

  3. Well, actually, the best part is that you got married and will live happily every after, of course. Duh!

  4. Valerie--

Yes! Assumed names + marriage licenses! Seems like a recipe for disaster to me.
